The fair-by-default scheduler
Schedules that can't play favorites.
EvenShift builds your restaurant, salon, or shift team's entire week in seconds — hours spread fairly, a plain-language reason on every shift, and a fairness score your whole team can see. It never schedules over a requested day off. Staff check their week, grab open shifts, and chat — right from their phones.

Nobody available was left at zero. People who wanted more got more.
Why it's different
Other tools optimize the owner's labor cost. EvenShift optimizes fairness to the worker — and proves it.
Never over a day off
Ask for a day off and the engine will not schedule you on it. If coverage can't be met, the shift is left open and flagged for the manager — never a silent override.
A reason for every shift
Every assignment stores a plain-English why: wanted more hours, had the fewest so far, only person free. No shift exists without one.
Fairness made visible
Every week computes a fairness score, the hours gap, and who got what. Favoritism has nowhere to hide — that's the whole point.
What you actually get
Less admin, fewer fights, staff who stay.
Your Sunday night back
Set who's available and what you need covered once. Every week after that is one button — with staffing suggested from your own sales history and last year's same week.
The end of “why does she always get Saturdays?”
Every shift carries its reason, and the fairness score is public to your team. Schedule complaints stop being your argument to have.
Staff who stay
Fair hours and visible reasons are why people stick around. Replacing one trained server costs weeks and thousands — the schedule should never be the reason someone quits.
No more group-text chaos
Availability, time off, open-shift pickups, shift replacements, and team chat live in one place — the app your staff already have in their pocket, in English, French, and Spanish.
How it works
From availability to a published week.
- 1
Staff set the truth
Each person sets weekly availability, requests time off, and says whether they want more hours, fewer, or are flexible.
- 2
Generate a fair week
Pick the week and see projected demand from your own sales — last year included. Accept the suggested staffing or set your own, press generate: the engine fills every shift by fairness first, flags what it can't cover, and shows its work.
- 3
Review, publish, done
Resolve the flags, publish. Workers see their week, the reason behind each shift, and can grab open shifts you approve — and their shifts sync straight to their phone's calendar.

Frequently asked questions
What is EvenShift?
EvenShift is a weekly staff-scheduling app for restaurants, bars, cafés, salons, and spas that puts fairness first. It builds the week from your team's availability, never schedules anyone over a requested day off, attaches a plain-language reason to every shift, and proves the week is fair with a visible fairness score.
How is EvenShift different from 7shifts, Homebase, or Deputy?
Most scheduling tools optimize the owner's labor cost. EvenShift optimizes fairness to the worker — and proves it. Every generated schedule shows a fairness score, the hours gap between teammates, and the reason behind every shift, so favoritism has nowhere to hide.
How much does EvenShift cost?
Solo is CA$89 per month (or CA$890 per year) for one location with up to 50 staff. Two locations are CA$169 per month (CA$1,690 per year) and three locations are CA$239 per month (CA$2,390 per year), each with up to 150 staff per location and the cross-location roll-up view. Four or more locations are custom-priced. Customers outside Canada pay the same numbers in USD. Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial — no credit card required, and the fairness features are never paywalled.
Does EvenShift work for bars open past midnight?
Yes. Shifts can cross midnight — a 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM close is a first-class shift with correctly counted hours. Each venue also chooses its dayparts (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and sets real start and end times per shift.
Is EvenShift bilingual?
Yes. EvenShift is fully bilingual in English and Quebec French (déjeuner, dîner, souper — the way Quebec restaurants actually talk), and anyone can switch language with one tap.
Can staff really never be scheduled on a day off?
Correct — it's a hard rule in the scheduling engine, not a preference. Automatic generation never assigns anyone to a day they requested off. If a shift can't be covered without doing so, it's left open and flagged for the manager. Only an explicit manager action can override a day off, and it's logged with a reason.
Can staff pick up open shifts?
Yes. Workers see open shifts that match their position and availability, and can request to pick them up. The manager approves with one tap and the schedule updates instantly.
Is EvenShift only for restaurants?
No. EvenShift works for any business that schedules hourly staff week by week — restaurants, bars, cafés, salons, spas, and more. Each business type gets its own positions (stylists, colorists, estheticians, and receptionists for salons; servers, cooks, and bartenders for restaurants) and its own way of dividing the day (morning, afternoon, evening — or breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Can shifts show up in my phone's calendar?
Yes — one tap. Every person gets a private calendar feed: on iPhone it opens directly in the Calendar app as a subscription, and there's an equivalent one-tap link for Google Calendar (plus a copyable link for Outlook and other apps). Because it's a live subscription, newly published weeks appear in the phone's calendar automatically — no re-exporting. Managers can subscribe too and see every published shift at their venue.
What happens when someone can't make a shift?
Managers fix a single day without touching the rest of the week. Tap the shift, and EvenShift suggests eligible teammates ordered by fairness — people who asked for more hours and have the fewest so far come first, and nobody on a requested day off is ever offered. Ask one person, or ask everyone at once where the first yes wins. The teammate answers on their phone; declining requires a short reason the manager can see. If a manager assigns someone anyway after a decline, the shift says so openly.
Does EvenShift include team chat?
Yes. Every workplace gets a team chat with an org-wide channel, member-created groups, reactions, and GIFs. There are no hidden conversations: managers can view every channel, and every group states that plainly — the same honesty EvenShift applies to schedules.
Can EvenShift project how busy we'll be?
Yes. Import your daily sales history — a CSV export from any POS (Square, Toast, Lightspeed, Clover) — or log sales as you go, and every new schedule shows your average staffing, last year's same week, and a projected demand for each day. One tap staffs the week to match, and every number stays editable. Projections only decide how many people you need; the fairness engine still decides who works.
Does EvenShift track labor cost and help with payroll?
Yes. The Insights page shows your labor cost against logged sales as a labor % for every published week, plus your fairness score over time and hours per person. Managers get a Monday email recapping the closed week, can print any week for the kitchen wall, and can export payroll-ready hours (person, hours, rate, pay) as a CSV for any date range.
